Question by tigerhuy: Why does a 1 oz silver American eagle coin appear larger than a 1 oz gold American eagle?
Is the gold a more dense metal? Or is is simply an optical illusion and the thickness is actually greater on the gold coin?

Yes, gold weighs more than silver. 1 oz. of silver would be bigger.

Question by eReedsburg: which silver coin is better to buy - an American Eagle or Buffalo Round?
I have the option to buy either 20 2010 American Eagle .999 silver coins for $ 406 or 20 .999 silver Buffalo Rounds for $ 378. Which is the better investment?

Both are made out of the same amount of silver, but the American Eagle has a date and other stuff on it that the Buffalo Round doesn't. Does that make it worth more?

The American silver eagle is a coin, the buffalo round is not. The Buffalo round is considered just that a silver round and actually falls into the medal class, it is not legal tender, nor is it backed by a government. Its value is the silver only. The American silver eagle on the other hand is a coin and also has a collector value added to its silver value. That is why it is more money. So the silver eagle would be the better choice. So now you know the facts it is up to you.

No, it doesn't have to be uncirculated to be considered pure silver. The condition of the coin doesn't affect it's composition
