Question by : How can I buy silver investment coins below spot price?
Is there a legitimate way to purchase silver investment coins like American Silver Eagles cheaper than the spot price?

Thank you!

You can find them at estate sales at or under spot and some pawn shops have good deals. Ebay is another good way to go.

I've personally found that buying silver coins that are 90% silver are closer to the spot price of their metal content then pure coins. Coinflation.com shows how much mercury dimes are worth and I've gotten them for 4% over their spot price.

Is the “finish” on uncirculated American Eagles supposed to be uneven in shine?

Question by C C: Is the "finish" on uncirculated American Eagles supposed to be uneven in shine?
I bought some from a dealer not too long ago on the internet. I'm just curious if its normal for the shine not to hit the coin evenly. For example, when light hits a quarter, its more or less even across the coin, but on my American silver eagles, the light hits the coin in circles or ovals so to speak. I hope my description was understandable, not really sure what the coin lingo is for it :P

Yes, I think I understand.

When the dies strike a coin, they hit with many tons of force (something like 80 tons to strike the SAE).

Even though the dies are hardened steel, the repeated pounding causes the dies to begin to wear. Different designs will cause different wear patterns, and that results in the "luster" of the coins looking different.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by : What fees/duties will I pay when importing my silver bars to Indonesia from USA?
I want to bring some of my silver bars over to my place in Bali, Indonesia. What will I have to pay for? They are not American Silver Eagles which I know are considered a form of currency, they are Silver Bullion. Thanks for your time!
